The 32-year-old was fatally shot on October 17, 2023, in a violent encounter on the city's far east side. Known affectionately as 'EJ' to his friends and family, Hodges was a beloved husband, father, son, and brother. He was an alumnus of Arlington High School and worked as a warehouse associate for Adidas.
His passion for basketball extended to coaching, where he mentored others in the sport he loved.
The shooting that claimed Hodges' life also left another individual in critical condition.
