In the early hours of Sunday, July 6, 2025, the life of 30-year-old Jalen Stephen Williams, a male resident of Indianapolis, Indiana, was tragically cut short by gun violence. Responding to a report of a person shot at approximately 12:50 a.m., officers from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department arrived at a home in the 1800 block of Roosevelt Avenue, on the city's near northeast side.
There, on the front porch, they discovered two men suffering from gunshot wounds.
Emergency medical personnel pronounced Jalen Stephen Williams dead at the scene. The second victim, who also sustained gunshot wounds, was transported to a local hospital in stable condition. The shooting was one of several violent incidents that occurred in Indianapolis over that holiday weekend, prompting a plea from law enforcement for public assistance in their ongoing investigations.
In the days and weeks that followed, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department continued to investigate the double shooting that resulted in Williams' death.
