In the early hours of Christmas Eve in 2021, a burst of violence on the northeast side of Indianapolis claimed the life of 24-year-old Carlton Stovall. The incident unfolded shortly after 2 a.m. in an apartment complex in the 4500 block of Park Forest Court, near the intersection of East 46th Street and North Arlington Avenue.
Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers were dispatched to the scene following reports of a person shot.
Upon their arrival, they discovered Stovall suffering from gunshot wounds. He was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Carlton Stovall succumbed to his injuries later that Friday evening, casting a somber shadow over the holiday for his family and friends.
In the days that followed the fatal shooting, investigators from the IMPD worked to piece together the events that led to the young man's death. Their efforts led them to identify a person believed to be responsible for the shooting. This individual was interviewed by detectives.
Following the interview, the person of interest was released from custody.
