In the fall of 2022, a tragic and unforeseen act of violence cut short the life of Maxine Angelica Congress, a 23-year-old Black / African American woman from Indianapolis, Indiana. On the evening of November 1, 2022, Maxine was found with a gunshot wound in the vicinity of East 40th Street and North Emerson Avenue. Despite immediate medical attention and being rushed to a nearby hospital, she succumbed to her injuries.
