On what should have been a night of celebration, Brittany Marie Members, a 38-year-old mother of five, was fatally shot in Indianapolis, Indiana. The tragic incident occurred in the early morning hours of Sunday, May 3, 2026, at a post-prom party she was hosting for her daughter. The gathering, held at a short-term rental on North Park Avenue, was intended to be a safe and joyous occasion for the teenagers.
Just before 1 a.m., the celebration was shattered by a barrage of gunfire.
Witnesses reported hearing what sounded like an automatic weapon, with some neighbors initially mistaking the noise for fireworks.
