Opal Cooper, an 85-year-old African American woman, died on August 24, 1974, during a burglary at her home. The perpetrator, Howard Arthur Allen, was a serial killer from Indianapolis, Indiana. Allen, who was born on February 10, 1949, had a history of criminal activities, including assault, burglary, and arson.
