In the early hours of an April morning in Indianapolis, a violent argument in an alleyway tragically cut short the life of 42-year-old Lavenna Shorter. On April 9, 2011, at approximately 2 a.m., police were dispatched to the 900 block of Sherman Avenue after a 911 caller reported hearing a gunshot followed by a woman's scream. Upon their arrival, officers discovered Shorter suffering from a fatal gunshot wound.
