On April 3, 2023, at approximately 12:53 p.m., Waco Police Department officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 1800 block of Richter Avenue. Upon arrival, they discovered two individuals with gunshot wounds: 24-year-old Zachary Hughes Jr. and an unidentified female. Both victims were transported to a local hospital, where Hughes succumbed to his injuries. The condition of the female victim was not disclosed.
