On May 2, 2023, at approximately 8:41 p.m., Waco police responded to reports of a shooting near the 1900 block of JJ Flewellen Road. Upon arrival, officers discovered 17-year-old Tercquan Johnson suffering from gunshot wounds; he was pronounced dead at the scene. This incident marked the seventh homicide in Waco for the year 2023.
