Upon arrival, officers discovered 17-year-old Tercquan Johnson suffering from gunshot wounds; he was pronounced dead at the scene. This incident marked the seventh homicide in Waco for the year 2023.
Following an investigation, authorities identified 17-year-old Ruben Villa Lee Dominguez as the primary suspect in Johnson's murder.
On May 10, 2023, members of the U.S. Marshals Lone Star Fugitive Task Force apprehended Dominguez in Freestone County. He was subsequently charged with murder and extradited to McLennan County to face the charges.
In July 2023, a McLennan County Grand Jury indicted Dominguez for the murder of Johnson. The indictment formalized the charges, paving the way for legal proceedings to commence. As of the latest available information, Dominguez remains in custody awaiting trial.
