Maxine Shelly Turner, affectionately known as "Max," was a 22-year-old senior majoring in chemical engineering at Virginia Tech. Tragically, she lost her life on April 16, 2007, during the Virginia Tech shootings, one of the deadliest school shootings in U.S. history.
