In the winter of 2015, a senseless act of violence cut short the life of Clayton Thomas, a 41-year-old man from Chesapeake, Virginia. On a Sunday evening in late December, Thomas was inside a Wendy's restaurant on Victory Boulevard in Portsmouth when he was fatally shot in the upper body. The incident, which occurred in the restaurant's bathroom, left the community in shock and his family heartbroken. Police were called to the scene around 8:29 p.m., where they found Thomas deceased.
