Charles Levar Sharpe, a 34-year-old resident of Newport News, Virginia, tragically lost his life on May 20, 2016, after being shot in the East End of the city. Sharpe, who was known for his efforts to reduce violence in his community, was found with a single gunshot wound in the 1100 block of Garden Drive in Stuart Gardens. Despite being rushed to the hospital, he succumbed to his injuries a few days later when his family made the difficult decision to take him off life support.
