Jemari Montez Davis, a 16-year-old Black male, was a lifelong resident of Newport News, Virginia, where his life was unexpectedly cut short on October 15, 2023. Born on July 5, 2007, he was known as a vibrant and active member of his community. His educational journey took him through Jenkins Elementary School, Hines Middle School, and Warwick High School, before he started at Denbigh High School in the fall of 2023.
Deeply involved in his faith, Jemari had been a member of the Denbigh
United Presbyterian Church since the age of five. He was an active participant in numerous youth programs, including Sunday school, Vacation Bible School, and the Summer Educational Enrichment Program. As a teenager, he volunteered his time with the church's ministry for the needy and served as a volunteer assistant coach for a children's basketball program. He was also a part of the audio-visual team that broadcasted the Sunday morning worship services. In his leisure time, Jemari enjoyed playing video games, basketball with friends, and physical fitness.
