On a Sunday afternoon, April 19, 2015, the life of 20-year-old Trenton Huffman of Hampton, Virginia, was tragically cut short in a double shooting in Newport News. The incident unfolded around 4:00 p.m. in the 600 block of Dresden Drive.
At the time of the shooting, medics were coincidentally in the area on an unrelated matter when they heard the sound of gunshots. They promptly alerted police and began to search for victims, discovering two men who had been shot.
Both individuals were quickly transported to a local hospital for medical attention.
Trenton Huffman, a Black male, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital. The second victim, a 25-year-old man from Newport News, sustained what were described as non-life-threatening injuries. He reported to the police that he was walking in the area when he heard gunshots and was struck.
Despite the presence of numerous people in the vicinity at the time of the shooting, detectives faced challenges in gathering information from witnesses. Authorities reported that they were unable to locate anyone who would admit to witnessing the event or provide any details about a possible suspect or suspects. To date, information regarding any arrests made in connection with the shooting has not been made public. The investigation into the death of Trenton Huffman remains unresolved.
