Joshua Aaron Kaplan, a 27-year-old resident of Newport News, Virginia, tragically lost his life on April 29, 2017. Kaplan was preparing to become a Merchant Marine when he was fatally shot. The incident occurred in the early hours of the morning, around 5:03 a.m., when Newport News Police responded to a report of gunshots in the 13200 block of Sojourner Court.
