On June 9, 2024, at approximately 5:30 p.m., Newport News Police Department officers responded to reports of a shooting on North Trellis Court, near Warwick Boulevard. Upon arrival, they discovered two male victims with gunshot wounds. One of the victims, identified as 21-year-old Newport News resident Zair Grenade, sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
