In the early hours of Christmas Eve in 2016, the life of 22-year-old Darell Hardy, a Black male from Portsmouth, was tragically cut short in Newport News, Virginia. Just after midnight, on December 24th, police received a call about a shooting on Ivy Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered Hardy inside the kitchen of a residence, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:04 a.m.
