On the evening of March 16, 2018, 18-year-old James Claggion IV was found deceased inside his grandmother's residence on Chestnut Avenue in Newport News, Virginia. A female who arrived at the home discovered him and contacted the police. Initially dispatched as a possible burglary in progress, officers arrived at approximately 10:10 p.m. to find Claggion inside, having sustained a fatal gunshot wound.
