In the pre-dawn hours of August 29, 2023, the life of 17-year-old Kameron Keith Grant was tragically cut short in a shooting in Newport News, Virginia. A student at Menchville High School, the young Black / African American male was on his way to school when the fatal incident occurred. At approximately 6:30 a.m., a Shot Spotter alert drew police to the 1200 block of 16th Street, near Garden Drive. Upon their arrival, officers discovered Kameron suffering from gunshot wounds.
He was rushed to a nearby hospital, but tragically, he succumbed to his injuries.
