In a tragic turn of events on a Sunday evening in Newport News, Virginia, a father's life was cut short, allegedly at the hands of his own son. The incident, which unfolded on May 8, 2022, on 73rd Street, was the result of a domestic dispute that escalated to fatal violence. Nasombia Jamar Richardson, a 48-year-old male, was shot and killed in what police have described as a domestic-related incident.
Responding to the scene, law enforcement officers found Richardson suffering from a
gunshot wound. Despite any efforts to render aid, he succumbed to his injuries. The preliminary investigation quickly pointed to a family member as the perpetrator.
The victim's son, Gabriel Maliq Sanders-Richardson, who was 27 years old at the time, was identified as the suspect. He was promptly taken into custody by the Newport News Police Department.
