In the late evening hours of June 8, 2021, the life of 31-year-old Keian J. Meusa, a Black male, was tragically cut short in Newport News, Virginia. Police were dispatched to the 5600 block of Arlington Avenue at approximately 10:50 p.m. following reports of a shooting. Upon their arrival, officers discovered Meusa inside a vehicle, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Despite the immediate response, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The initial investigation launched by the Newport News Police Department sought to piece together the events that led to the fatal shooting. A month later, on July 9, 2021, authorities released surveillance footage to the public. The video showed two unidentified individuals who were considered persons of interest and who police believed might have crucial information regarding the homicide. In an effort to engage with the community and generate leads, the police department also planned a Community Awareness, Reconnection & Education walk to support Meusa's family and encourage witnesses to come forward.
Despite these efforts and public appeals for assistance, the investigation into Keian J. Meusa's death has not led to any arrests. The case remains unsolved, and the suspects responsible for his murder have not been publicly identified. Authorities continue to urge anyone with information related to the shooting to contact the Crime Line, with the option to submit tips anonymously. The search for answers and justice for Keian Meusa continues within the Newport News community.
