In the late summer evening of August 19, 2024, tragedy struck in Newport News, Virginia, ending the life of 54-year-old Marvin Jerome Jackson. A longtime resident of the city, Jackson was known by friends and neighbors as a loving and selfless man with a big heart, someone who would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. He was a familiar and friendly face in his community, often found spending time near 33rd Street and Roanoke Avenue.
