Javon Stephenson, a 31-year-old resident of Virginia Beach, was tragically murdered on July 26, 2018, in Newport News, Virginia. The incident occurred during a drug transaction where Stephenson was supposed to provide ecstasy in exchange for a firearm. He traveled from Virginia Beach to downtown Newport News to meet Damontaze Montrell Tillery, the individual he was trading with. The meeting took place at 19th Street and Ivy, where Tillery shot Stephenson during the transaction.
