On August 8, 2023, 61-year-old Alvin Eugene Holiday was found deceased from gunshot wounds inside a residence on Stallings Court in Newport News, Virginia. Two other men, 60-year-old Monroe McGilvary Jr. and 36-year-old Derek Rico Jones, were also found dead at the scene. The Newport News Police Department responded to a call reporting shots fired just before 1 a.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered the three men inside the home, all having succumbed to their injuries.
