Jiovany Gomez, a 14-year-old boy, went missing on November 27, 2010, from San Marcos, Texas. At the time, he was visiting relatives in Texas from his home in Chicago, Illinois. On the day of his disappearance, Jiovany was accompanied by his uncle Ricardo Gomez and three other men: Luis Hernandez, Carlos Ortega-Gonzales, and Nicholas Munoz. The group had traveled to Laredo, Texas, reportedly to pick up paperwork for a vehicle.
Afterward, they crossed the border into Nuevo Laredo, Mexico, for a shopping trip.
The group was last heard from when Luis Hernandez called his wife, stating they would return by evening, but they never made it back. Law enforcement was alerted on November 30 when the adults failed to show up for work. The group was traveling in a green 2003 Chevrolet Suburban with Texas license plates AD98575. Despite searches, there has been no further trace of them, and foul play is suspected. Jiovany’s case remains classified as endangered, and it is believed they may still be in Mexico.
Authorities are still seeking any information related to Jiovany’s whereabouts and those of the other missing individuals.
