In the early morning hours of June 29, 2014, the life of 33-year-old Jamar Sherald Clarke, a Black male, was tragically cut short in his Newport News, Virginia home. Police received a call about gunshots in the 600 block of Ridley Circle at approximately 12:23 a.m. and a subsequent call about an unconscious man. Upon their arrival, they discovered Clarke on his kitchen floor, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his torso. Medics pronounced him deceased at the scene.
