In the summer of 2016, the community of Roanoke, Virginia, was shaken by the untimely death of 29-year-old Najee Anthony Tynes, a male police officer who had been with the Roanoke Police Department since 2011. On the evening of July 27, 2016, Tynes was discovered deceased inside a restroom at the police department headquarters.
