In the summer of 2018, the life of Rashard Devonte Jessup, a 24-year-old Black man from Roanoke, Virginia, was tragically cut short. On August 16, 2018, Jessup was shot in northwest Roanoke. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
