In the late hours of a Monday night in Norfolk, Virginia, the sound of gunfire shattered the peace on Brambleton Avenue. It was September 12, 2016, when 26-year-old Lytiek J. Jackson, a Black male, became the victim of a fatal shooting. Shortly after 11:30 p.m., police received calls about shots being fired in the 600 block of the avenue. Upon their arrival, they discovered Mr. Jackson lying on the ground with a gunshot wound.
