In the light of a summer afternoon, a day of mourning tragically devolved into further sorrow. On June 27, 2025, Savon L. Majette, a 27-year-old Black male from Chesapeake, Virginia, was fatally shot in Norfolk. The brazen act of violence unfolded around 1:00 p.m. in the parking area behind the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral, located off the 100 block of Fife Street.
