In the late hours of a Friday night in Norfolk, Virginia, the life of 40-year-old Tione T. Harris was tragically cut short. On February 21, 2020, dispatchers received a call about a gunshot disturbance in the 3100 block of Dunkirk Avenue. When police officers arrived at the scene around 11:15 p.m., they found Mr. Harris suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Tione, born in Norfolk on November 24, 1979, was a father to six children, five daughters and one son. He was remembered as a dependable and loving father who was just months away from completing an HVAC program at Fortis College. Known by the nickname 'Da Don,' he was considered a compassionate figure in his Park Place neighborhood, someone friends and children in the community could turn to for support. He is survived by his mother, fiancée, and numerous family members and lifelong friends who were left heartbroken by his unexpected death.
In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, Norfolk police detectives began an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatal incident. However, authorities did not release any information about a potential suspect or the motive behind the shooting. The police department urged anyone with information to come forward and contact the Norfolk Crime Line, hoping to receive tips that could lead to an arrest in the case. As of the initial reports, no suspects had been identified, and no arrests had been made in connection with the death of Tione T. Harris.
