On July 7, 2017, Damoni Daishawn Sawyer, an 18-year-old from Hampton, Virginia, was tragically killed in a shooting incident. The event occurred around 1:16 PM in the area of 52nd Street and Rotary Street. Sawyer and another individual were attempting to reattach a bumper to their black Dodge Avenger when unknown assailants in a silver Chrysler 300 or a BMW (or a similar make) approached them and opened fire.
