In the late summer of 2017, the life of 18-year-old Jeremiah Melton, a Black male from Norfolk, Virginia, was tragically cut short. In the early morning hours of Monday, September 4, 2017, police responded to a call on the 900 block of Tidewater Drive for a person with a possible gunshot wound. Upon arrival, they found Melton with what was initially believed to be a non-life-threatening injury.
