In the quiet city of Danville, Virginia, a tragedy unfolded on the night of September 28, 2017, forever altering the lives of a local family. Louis Isaiah 'BG' Glenn, a 23-year-old Black male, was found lying unresponsive in the middle of Moffett Street. Responding emergency personnel pronounced him dead at the scene, having suffered a fatal gunshot wound to his upper body.
A Danville resident and a high school graduate, Glenn was known to have worked as a custodian.
The Danville Police Department immediately launched an investigation into the shooting, which soon led to the identification and apprehension of several suspects. The first arrests included 18-year-old Stevie Jermaine Johnson Jr. and an unnamed 14-year-old juvenile. Johnson was charged with conspiracy to commit murder and willfully discharging a firearm in a public place resulting in bodily injury. The juvenile faced charges of possession of a handgun while under the age of 18, attempted malicious wounding, and criminal street gang participation.
Further investigation brought more individuals to face justice in connection with Glenn's death. Brian Lamont Terry was subsequently arrested and charged with attempted first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. Another teenager, 17-year-old Rayshawn Wa-heim Bennett, was also charged with conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. Bennett remained at large for a period before he was eventually taken into custody by law enforcement.
