In the late hours of a spring night in Danville, Virginia, the life of Marcus Lamar Hairston, a 37-year-old Black/African American man, was tragically cut short. On April 30, 2023, at the Woodside Village apartments, gunfire erupted, leaving Hairston fatally wounded. When police responded to the scene on Piney Forest Road shortly after midnight, they found him unresponsive and, despite administering CPR, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
