James N. Henderson Jr., a 20-year-old Aviation Boatswain’s Mate Airman stationed with the carrier Ford, tragically lost his life in a shootout on November 4, 2017, in Norfolk, Virginia. The incident occurred in the early hours of the morning, around 3 a.m., in the 700 block of Washington Avenue. Norfolk police responded to reports of shots fired and found Henderson and another individual, a 25-year-old former Navy sailor, both suffering from gunshot wounds.
