On September 2, 2023, 20-year-old Norfolk State University (NSU) student, Jahari Deon George, was fatally shot near the NSU campus in Norfolk, Virginia. Officers responded to reports of a gunshot victim around 11:10 p.m. in the 2700 block of Gate House Road, near Colchester Crescent. Upon arrival, they found George inside a vehicle, suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound. He was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
