On the night of September 26, 2023, Norfolk police responded to a shooting at the Motel 6 located at 853 North Military Highway. Upon arrival around 11:20 p.m., officers discovered 32-year-old Christopher Ambrister suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds. Despite immediate medical attention, Ambrister was pronounced dead at the scene.
