In the spring of 2018, the life of 21-year-old Tevin Mason of Roanoke, Virginia, was cut tragically short in what was initially described as a firearms mishap. The incident unfolded on the evening of Monday, April 16, 2018, at the North Ridge apartment complex located in the 5000 block of King Arthur Court in Northwest Roanoke.
Police were dispatched to the scene and upon arrival, they discovered two men inside an apartment, one of whom was Tevin Mason, suffering from a significant
gunshot wound. Emergency medical services were rendered at the scene before he was transported to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital for further treatment.
During the initial investigation, law enforcement officials determined that Mason and another man had been handling firearms in the breezeway of the apartment building when a gun was accidentally discharged, striking Mason. Investigators also noted at the time that alcohol was believed to have been a contributing factor in the unfortunate event.
Despite the efforts of medical professionals, Tevin Mason, a male, succumbed to his injuries and passed away at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 17, 2018. In the immediate aftermath of the shooting and Mason's subsequent death, the Roanoke Police Department announced that the investigation was ongoing and that charges were pending.
