On April 24, 2024, at approximately 7:00 p.m., 19-year-old JaVonte' D. Smith of Roanoke, Virginia, was critically injured in a shooting on Stratford Park Drive SW. He was placed on life support and, after two days, succumbed to his injuries on April 26. Smith was remembered by his family as an outgoing and determined individual who deeply loved his young daughter.
