On the night of May 24, 2025, in Roanoke, Virginia, a call reporting an assault in progress on Glengary Avenue NW came into the E-911 Center at approximately 11:05 p.m. Just a minute later, a second call reported a shooting at the same location. When police officers arrived at the 2700 block of the street, they discovered a man outside a residence with gunshot wounds. The man, identified as 31-year-old Deven Price Singleton, a Black/African American male, died at the scene.
Deven Price Singleton was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on January 31, 1994, and spent his formative years in Eden, North Carolina. He later moved to Rockbridge County, Virginia, in 2010, where he lived with the Cash family for nearly 15 years. He worked in various fields, including house remodeling. He was a father to a daughter and a son.
The investigation into Singleton's death quickly led to a suspect. The following day, on May 25, 2025, the U.S. Marshals Service Capital Area Regional Task Force located and arrested 43-year-old Antonio Demetrus Dudley of Roanoke. Dudley was subsequently charged with second-degree murder in connection with the fatal shooting of Singleton. Authorities have stated that the investigation is ongoing.
