On December 4, 2024, at approximately 6:50 p.m., Roanoke Police Department officers responded to reports of gunfire in the 4800 block of Lanford Street NW in Roanoke, Virginia. Upon arrival, they discovered 32-year-old Rafael Pérez Naranjo, originally from Camagüey, Cuba, with gunshot wounds. Tragically, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
