In the early hours of a summer morning in Newport News, Virginia, the life of 23-year-old Davonte L. Mitchell was tragically cut short. On June 25, 2018, Mitchell was visiting family on Tarrytown Court when he was fatally shot in the head. Emergency services were dispatched to the 11100 block of the street around 1 a.m. following reports of gunfire.
