William 'Eric' Brant, a 40-year-old male, passed away unexpectedly on July 25, 2019. Born on December 24, 1978, he was a lifetime resident of Norfolk, Virginia, where he attended Norview High School. Known to his loved ones as a fun, loving, and caring individual who cherished his family, Brant was a father to a daughter and a son. He was skilled in various trades and found enjoyment in carpentry work.
On the afternoon of July 25, 2019, tragedy struck when emergency services responded to
a shooting on 19th Bay Street in Norfolk. First responders discovered William Eric Brant at the scene, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, but ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
Investigators quickly identified a suspect in the fatal shooting. Diandre Wesley Moss, a 32-year-old from Chesapeake, was taken into custody in Williamsburg on the same evening without incident. Moss was subsequently charged with second-degree murder and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. He was held at the Norfolk City Jail without bond.
