In the late evening hours of a Monday in Woodbridge, Virginia, a gathering turned tragic, ending the life of 45-year-old Stonnie Ray Chavis. On September 23, 2019, Prince William County Police responded to a report of a shooting at a residence on E Street just before 10 p.m. Inside the home, they discovered Chavis suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
He was quickly transported to a nearby hospital, but tragically, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
The investigation into the shooting revealed that Chavis had been involved in a verbal argument with another man at the gathering. The altercation escalated, leading to the fatal shooting of Chavis. A few days later, on September 26, 2019, an arrest was made in connection with the death of Stonnie Ray Chavis. The suspect was identified as 30-year-old Calvin Jerome Wood II, who had no fixed address at the time. Wood was located at an apartment on Potomac Heights Place and taken into custody without incident. He was subsequently charged with murder and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. Following his arrest, Calvin Jerome Wood II was held without bond.
