Jarod Tyrell Buford, a 22-year-old Black male from Petersburg, Virginia, was shot and killed on Friday, September 23, 2016, in Richmond. The events leading to his death began to unfold just before 6 p.m. on the city's Southside. Richmond Police initially responded to a call of a person shot in the 4100 block of Midlothian Turnpike, near the Midlothian Village Apartments. When officers arrived at that location, they did not find a victim.
