Joie M. Wyche, a 26-year-old Black man from Richmond, Virginia, was killed in a late-afternoon burst of gunfire on Monday, August 28, 2017, on the 1800 block of North 30th Street in the city’s East End. As daylight lingered, a police officer nearby heard multiple gunshots and rushed toward the sound, finding Wyche down and gravely wounded from at least one gunshot.
