On the evening of September 23, 2016, a verbal dispute in Woodbridge, Virginia, tragically escalated, ending the life of 23-year-old Francin Jose Solano Campo. The young man, a resident of Woodbridge, was involved in an altercation in the 3200 block of Wyndale Court that turned violent.
The argument reportedly led to another Woodbridge man, Juan Manuel Polanco, brandishing a handgun and shooting Solano Campo in the upper body. Prince William County Police responded to a report of the shooting at approximately 8:44 p.m. Upon their arrival, officers found Francin Solano Campo suffering from gunshot wounds. Emergency medical aid was rendered at the scene, and he was subsequently transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Investigators quickly determined that the shooting was not a random act of violence, as the victim and the suspect were known to each other. The investigation led to the swift identification and arrest of 27-year-old Juan Manuel Polanco. He was taken into custody and charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of Francin Solano Campo. Following his arrest, Polanco was held without bond. The death marked the 17th homicide in Prince William County for that year.
