Born in the Bronx, New York, Tahad Bailey was a young man with a big
heart and a distinctive, high-pitched laugh that was infectious to those around him. He was known for his love of life, his belief in positivity and loyalty, and for having an old soul. As a youth, he was active in sports, playing both baseball and football. He had a passion for working on his 2000 Grand Marquis and enjoyed listening to rap and old-school music at a volume that resonated with his vibrant personality. He was a devoted companion and a loving father to his young daughter.
In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, the Richmond Police Department began their investigation, searching for clues and seeking information from the public. A key piece of evidence that emerged was the description of a vehicle seen in the area at the time of the homicide. Authorities began a search for a distinctive blue conversion van with a raised roof and panoramic windows.
Days after the shooting, investigators intensified their search, announcing that they were looking for a person of interest who was seen driving the blue van. This individual was described as a Black male. It was also believed that he may have been accompanied by a blue pit bull. The police released photos of the van in the hopes that the unique combination of the man, the van, and the dog would jog someone's memory and lead to a break in the case. Despite their efforts and public appeals for information, the investigation into the death of Tahad Keith Bailey has not led to any publicly announced arrests or the naming of any suspects.
