In the early hours of Thanksgiving morning, November 28, 2019, the life of 19-year-old Tyreese Jamal Barlow was tragically cut short in Richmond, Virginia. He was a young Black man, born on February 7, 2000, to Shanney Washington and the late Finis Leroy Barlow, Jr. Known for his jovial nature and glorious smile, Tyreese had a gift for making people laugh and brightening their day.
The fatal incident unfolded in the 2000 block of Creighton Road.
Richmond Police responded to a report of a shooting and found Tyreese outside a residence, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to a local hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival. A 19-year-old woman was also injured in the shooting, though her injuries were not life-threatening.
Tyreese was educated at Spartan Academy in Richmond and was a member of the Cedar Street Baptist Church. He had a deep, unconditional love for his mother and siblings and cherished spending time with his family. His kindness and willingness to help others left a lasting impression on his community. In his leisure time, he enjoyed being around children and listening to music.
Despite an extensive investigation by the Richmond Police Department, who canvassed the area for witnesses and collected evidence, no suspects have been identified in the shooting. The case remains unsolved, and no arrests have been made. Authorities continue to seek information from the public, hoping for new leads that could bring justice for Tyreese and his grieving family and friends.
